Services

Four ways I typically engage. Common to all of them: I stay hands-on, and I use AI tooling fluently — for building, and for the writing that surrounds it (RFCs, design docs, architecture decision records).

Software development

Senior delivery on your team or independently: backend services, APIs, integrations, and the unglamorous work of making systems observable, testable, and operable. I've built for environments where mistakes cost real money — payments, banking, and trading.

Software & solution architecture

Designing new systems and seeing them through to production. Not slideware: architecture that comes with interfaces, data models, a delivery plan, and usually the first working slices of the implementation. I'm at my best taking a system from "we need this" to running in production.

Enterprise architecture & migrations

Landscape design and migration work: replacing legacy systems, splitting monoliths, moving between platforms, and sequencing it all so the business keeps running while it happens. Migrations are where good intentions go to die — I design them so they don't.

Reviews & second opinions

Focused, time-boxed reviews when you want an outside set of eyes: code reviews, architecture reviews, and assessments of RFCs and system designs before you commit to them. Useful ahead of a big build, when evaluating a vendor or an inherited codebase, or when something in delivery feels off and you want to know why.
